About

I was born and raised in Nebraska, where I still live with my husband and our three dogs. I am the youngest of four siblings, the mom of two adult daughters, and Nana to one adorable granddaughter, who is 4.

An attorney by training, I recently retired after many years as a college teacher. I kept my law license active because it was so hard to get, and you never know when a relative will need some free advice.

The inspiration for the blog came from jobs I’ve had, people I’ve met, raising kids, and life in general. If you can see the humor in a situation, it usually helps. And I tend to see a lot of humor in most situations.

My mom was a born story teller, and we have a lot of Irish ancestors. They had what she called the “gift of gab”. The Gaelic word for story teller is seanchai, and they are plentiful on the Emerald Isle and in our family.

I started jotting down ideas for the blog a year ago, followed by taking two classes from a local expert. I love to write, and look forward to creating content that doesn’t require a legal citation or end note in APA style.

My plan is to create content weekly, and post on Monday mornings. So grab a cup of coffee and check back each week for some Humor From The Heartland, courtesy of Sally Bisson-Best, The Funny Nana.
